The club has invested £3000 on new bars that were used at The Rio Olympic games.
Monies raised at The Snowflake competition have been used to pay for these, as the selling of the old bars to another gymnastics club.
Head Coach Al says “It’s important to try and reinvest funds into the club to ensure the gymnasts have access to the best possible equipment the sport can offer, along with high-level coaching. In addition to the new A Bars, there is on order a new 4metre landing mat to go between the bars and a 3metre landing mat to go behind the vault. Costing £1400 in total. One of the reasons I decided to get the new bars is the rails, in the past, have always been veneered and this in due course cracks or wears, and also the chalk struggles to stay on the bar. But with the new bars, the chalk stays on a great deal better as they are not veneered and they are already a great deal more popular with the gymnasts.
I would like to thank Graham Howton and Anthony Clark for helping me assemble the new bars and put them in place. The fact that we put the bars together and did it ourselves saved the charity over £400 that we would have been charged by Gymnova”
