Yesterday saw 10 of Arabian’s squad gymnasts travel to Wisbech for the Fenland Senior Apparatus Competition 2017.
First up was the youngest members of the group in Sophie, Jaydie, Jess, Molly-Anne, Ruby, and Isabella. All 6 girls performed brilliantly showing the audience and their parents what they have been practicing for these last few months.
Molly-Anne Clark stole the show claiming 2 gold medals for her vault and bars and a bronze for the floor. Molly had the highest score on the vault gaining her a trophy. Ruby Basquil took home two silvers for vault and bars, just behind Molly, along with a bronze for her floor exercise. Jaydie Durnford, the oldest of this group, took home 3 silver medals her the bars, beam, and floor, with Jessica Doyle claiming the bronze medal on the bars. Sophie Lee-Myers gained a fantastic gold medal on the beam as well as a silver for her vault. Unfortunately, Isabella Noury just lost out on a podium finish but still performed to the best of her ability on all four events in a tough age group.
In the second rotation, we saw the older girls take to the floor, and my goodness age is just a number with a whopping 7 gold medals claimed across all four events. Charlotte Harvey stood out taking 3 golds on vault beam and floor along with a silver for the bars. Charlotte also took home two trophies for the highest scoring beam and floor exercise. I think it’s safe to say she had a fantastic day at the office. Eloise Smith again took 3 gold medals on vault, beam, and floor taking the silver on the bars. Eloise also gained a trophy for the vault. Kasey Tuck, who has been recovering from a broken ankle for the majority of the year showed she was back to true form taking a gold for the bars a silver for vault and bronzes for beam and floor. More importantly, she took home a trophy for her bars, which was the highlight of her day. Sarah-Jane Thompson Donnell, soon to be 16, claimed 2 bronzes on vault and bars and a silver for her floor exercise, again showing age is only a number.
Credit goes to Sammii, Vicki, and Elliemay who traveled to Wisbech along with the girls and made sure they had leotards and handguards. Along with the gymnasts, the coaches hard work and dedication have paid off in the mere amount of medals won with 10 golds 10 silvers and 7 bronzes.
Well done coaches and well-done gymnasts!
