12 1/2 year old Gymnast Poppy Gibbs who schools at Oakgrove school In Milton Keynes has become what is believed to be the first gymnast to enter an Oxygen chamber in MK where it’s hoped the pressurised dive of oxygen will enhance and speed up the repair to her recently broken ankle.
The talented gymnast who has been selected for 11 events this year has been forced to watch as her team mates take on many teams this weekend in the National Tulips team challenge in Lincolnshire.
As well as this she also out of the Indi Invitation in February and is very unlikely to be entered into the new Rainbow Challenge cup competition on March 25th.
She is hoping to be ready for her first return in the National Roses event in May held at Spalding setting her back on track for when she competes in California against gymnasts from Texas and the hosts in San Diego.
The tank which is used greatly for those people with MS and other ailments & difficulties is being used more often by Sporting people as a means of getting over injuries quicker. The depth diving is where the person sits in a pressurized tank wearing an oxygen mask which is hooked up to a direct Oxygen pipe….

In Poppy’s first dive it had to be stopped at a half way stage due to the pressure creating a painful ear, also with her was her coach Alan who is not just there for Poppy but also to assist him with his rehabilitation back to good health with his bilateral frozen shoulders. He too also struggled at first with the painful ear due to the dive.
After the duo had a short pause the dive continued and Poppy settled ok with the dive and they reached their target of a dive of 16. The hour long dive resembles the feeling when a plane drops down to land…the only difference is you can’t be eating or chewing!
Friday 26th saw the Duo attend for their 2nd dive and this time they managed to reach the depth of 24 feet, the equivalent of pressure as in deep sea diving. The maximum depth is 32 feet which has been focused as the target to reach as it give the best benefit. They will do a total of 20 dives over the next 5 to 6 weeks.
